For Couples Who Are About To Say “I Do”
Premarital Counseling in an accelerated format
Premarital intensives offer couples the opportunity to intentionally invest in their relationship before marriage without the constraints of weekly sessions. In a focused, extended format, couples explore communication patterns, conflict styles, emotional intimacy, expectations around finances, family, and values, and how to navigate stress as a team.
Rather than waiting for problems to arise, premarital intensives help couples build a strong, secure foundation from the start. This deeper work supports greater understanding, emotional safety, and resilience so when challenges come, you’re prepared to face them together with clarity and connection.
A premarital intensive isn’t about fixing what’s broken; it’s about strengthening what already exists and setting your relationship up for long-term health, trust, and intimacy.
What do we talk about in Premarital Counseling?
There are four main themes that we’ve built our premarital counseling program around: communication/conflict resolution, family dynamics, finances, and intimacy. While we center conversations around these themes, the content is unique to whatever the couple brings into the office!
Do we really need premarital counseling?
The short answer is “yes”! The couples we see for premarital counseling are often ones who don’t have a specific ‘issue’ to work through. This is an opportunity to strengthen your existing relationship foundation while having integral conversations in a new and enlightening way. Marriage is a marathon; you would want effective training before running a marathon, why wouldn’t you train before the marriage marathon?
Why intensives?
While premarital counseling is offered in a weekly format, intensives allow for deeper, uninterrupted processing in an accelerated format. Premarital counseling intensives are scheduled in 4 hour blocks over 1 or 2 days. The number of blocks needed will be determined by you and your therapist.
