Ohio Marriage Intensives- Make Real Relationship Progress in One Weekend

Are you looking to accomplish months of therapy in one weekend? Then a marriage intensive might be for you!

Hi, I’m Natalie Andrews, an Independent Marriage and Family Therapist in Mason, Ohio. After a decade of licensure, I’ve created a Marriage Intensive Program so your relationship can experience months of healing in just a few days.

Is This Your Marriage?

  • You have the same argument over and over.

  • One or both of you feels unheard, unseen, or emotionally alone.

  • Trust has been broken by betrayal, secrecy, or infidelity.

  • You're living more like roommates than partners.

  • Communication feels impossible.

  • You're wondering whether your marriage can be saved.

If you recognize your relationship here, then a couple’s intensive might be what your relationship needs.

Why Marriage Intensives Work

Traditional therapy often provides just enough time to discuss the week's problems before the session ends.

Marriage intensives create uninterrupted space to slow down, understand what's really happening beneath the surface, and begin making meaningful change while you're together.

We have time and space to dig deep into the relationship patterns in a way that traditional therapy does not always allow.

What to Expect in an Intensive

Every intensive starts with a one hour comprehensive assessment to understand your relationship, concerns, strengths, and goals. In this assessment we will decide if a half day, day or two day format is the best fit for your relationship goals. I will also get Releases of Information for any individual or couple’s therapist you or your partner are seeing. Collaboration can be a helpful tool in maintaining progress following an intensive.

During the intensive, we have dedicated time to work on your relationship goals. We will spend time exploring each partner’s upbringing and the ways that your early relationships impact your current relationship. This gives us a better understanding of what motivates you, your beliefs, and actions as a partner. It also creates a deeper understanding and bond between partners. After this, we will dive deeper into today’s conflicts that are present in your relationship. I utilize Narrative Therapy, Gottman techniques, Sex Therapy techniques, and other systemic therapies to get to the root of the conflict and understand your conflict cycle. We’ll practice practical tools that you can utilize outside of therapy to maintain progress with communication. As we end the intensive, we will reflect on the insight built and create a plan for continued progress.

After the intensive, I will send you an email outlining the core themes we discussed, as well as the plan for continued progress. If you live in Ohio, we can set up ongoing traditional therapy sessions as needed to maintain progress. I will also connect with any individual or couples therapists to inform them of the core themes and plan, with your permission.

Please be aware that intensives are not a good fit for everyone. Here are some relationship patterns that may not benefit from an intensive:

  • There is recent or current violence, including physical harm, threats, stalking or coercion.

  • There are active affairs or an affair that has not been disclosed.

  • You or your partner have untreated substance abuse or active mental health crises.
